Police trying to bring former President Duterte to a chartered flight: report

Police officials are determined to bring former president Rodrigo Duterte, who was served with an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court over alleged crimes against humanity during his war on drugs, to a plane, at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

In a video shared on Instagram by Duterte’s daughter Veronica Tuesday evening, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III was shown giving an ultimatum to the ex-president.

Torre told Duterte's former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea in the video that he has only two options.

“Sir, we can do this the hard way. We can do this the easy way,” Torre told Medialdea.

Torre said the easy way is to choose three people who will accompany Duterte to the plane.

Torre did not say the plane's destination.

“It is not in my pay grade, ” Torre remarked

Veronica said police officers are taking her father to a plane by force. The video stopped before Torre gave details on the second option.

In another video, Duterte said the International Criminal Court has no jurisdiction as the country withdrew its membership at the ICC.

“Why are you bringing me to an international body which we do not belong to? That’s a big question,” he said.

He believes the Supreme Court will rebuke the government DMS
