Around eight persons in the wake of Tropical Storm ''Ramil'' with five family members were killed when a tree fell on their home in Pitogo town, Quezon Province Gov. Helen Tan said in a radio interview on Sunday.
She did not name the family members who perished on during the morning but dzBB reported that a five-month old baby was among the fatalities.
There were reported to have died in Capiz, which was not in the track of ''Ramil'' but a yellow warning rainfall was raised by forecasters.
Sheila Astillero of the Capiz Disaster Risk Reduction office told Bilyonario News Channel that they had initial reports two drowned while one was electrocuted. She added that these were still being validated.
Rainfall reacted 400 millimeters in Capiz instead of the forecasted 50-100 milimeters as Pagasa forecaster Charmagne Varilla said ''Ramil'' went down slightly to Northern Samar its ''outer rainbands reached Visayas''
Tan told dzBB that rains were ''on and off, light to moderate.'' No areas are flooded and main roads were passable. She added that 6,000 persons were evacuated.
''Ramil'', which crossed Bicol on Saturday, made landfall in Mauban, Quezon Province Sunday morning before traversing the southern-central Luzon landmass and emerged at the coastal waters of Pangasinan or Zambles in the afternoon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
As of its 5 pm bulletin, Pagasa said ''Ramil'', which had winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour.
It accelerated to 35 kilometers per hour as it moves west northwest over the West Philippine Sea.
Pagasa hoisted Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 and No.1 being hoisted over parts of Metro Manila on Sunday morning. It was lowered to signal no. 1 for the entire Metro Manila.
