BAGUIO CITY — After more than four decades in hiding, murder suspect Mario Caubang Lumaguefell into the hands of the National Bureau of Investigation – Cordillera Administrative Region (NBI-CAR).
Lumague was tagged in the murder of a police informer in 1983 but escaped police custody before his court hearing in November 1984. He was arrested around 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 4, inside his rented apartment at #22 Purok 8, Upper Pinget, here.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on February 27, 1986, by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 5 here.
Lumague has been working as a taxi driver here.
In August, the NBI got a tip that he was reportedly overheard bragging to fellow drivers about his crime but has escaped authorities. The NBI located him and served an arrest warrant.
He was presented on Sept. 5 to RTC Branch 5, which issued a commitment order for his detention at the Baguio City Jail. DMS
