Former President Rodrigo Duterte who was arrested for alleged crimes against humanity is expected to arrive in the Netherlands on Thursday morning.

Duterte was flown to The Hague to face trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) after he was arrested upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City from Hongkong on Tuesday.

According to Flightradar24, an air traffic monitoring application, the plane carrying the former president arrived in Dubai at 4:04 am (Dubai time) or 8:04 am (Philippine time).

In his social media post, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa said that he is ready to join the former president in The Hague.

"If all legal remedies are exhausted and still justice is to no avail, then I don't want my family to suffer from cops looking for a heartbeat. I am ready to join the old man hoping that they would allow me to take care of him," he said.

Following the arrest of Duterte, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said that the ICC will also issue a warrant of arrest against Dela Rosa who served as the Philippine National Police chief during the bloody war on drugs of Duterte.

"I would have to admit the warrant against Bato Dela Rosa will follow after about a few months," Trillanes said in a radio interview on Wednesday. Robina Asido/DMS
