Eight police chiefs in Metro Manila, including Makati, were relieved from their posts after failing to meet the five-minute emergency response policy, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen.Nicolas Torre III said on Monday.

"Eight of them (chiefs of police) all colonel are all relieved from their posts", Torre said at the sidelines of the launching of a website to help motorists track their violations under the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The relieved chiefs of police also came from Makati, Paranaque, Caloocan, Navotas, Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan.

"I assumed (office) on June 2, I conducted a command conference on June 4, two days later, and I gave them standards and I knew right away whether they complied or not because I could see it in their performance. So we noticed that it appears that they didn't want to comply so we looked for other people who would comply", Torre told reporters in a chance interview.

Makati has recently been experiencing robbery cases involving Japanese.

Two cases were recorded as solved and under investigation respectively in Makati City Police Station under former Col.Jean Dela Torre. Dela Torre was replaced by Col. Reycon Garduque.

Torre said that he is " very lucky at this era, at this time, where senior officers like these have 100 people per class so if one fails, then there are 99 of equal competence left". Marie Manalili/DMS
