Vice President Sara Duterte will attend the preliminary investigation on the complaint filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for her alleged death threat against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In an interview with reporters in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday, Duterte said her counter-affidavit will be submitted to answer the complaints against her.

"I’ve talked to my lawyer regarding the counter-affidavit, which we’re only finishing. I will attend because I have to take an oath," she said.

In a television interview on Wednesday, NBI Director Jaime Santiago said Duterte should attend the preliminary investigation where she can bring her lawyer with her.

"Yes, she can bring her lawyer with her. She will be given a copy of our complaint against her and she will be given a chance to answer that," he added.

Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon, previously announced that the preliminary investigation on the complaint against Duterte has been scheduled for May 9 and May 16.

The NBI filed grave threats and inciting to sedition complaints against Duterte after she claimed that she contracted someone to assassinate the President, the First Lady and the House Speaker, should a supposed kill plot against her succeed. Robina Asido/DMS
