Four Filipinos still missing in Myanmar: OWWA

2025/4/3 英字

Four Filipinos remain missing in Myanmar, where a magnitude 7.7 quake struck on Friday, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Wednesday.

In a social media post, the OWWA bared that they have yet to get information if the four were among those rescued or retrieved from the affected areas, particularly the collapsed Sky Villa building.

Just a day after arriving in Myanmar, the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) on Wednesday started helping quake victims.

In a social media post by the Department of Health (DOH), PEMAT team leader Ma. Ivy Lozada said the Philippine contingent is prepared to provide health services after they have set up their camp.

"The next thing we will do is set up our camp and, within 24 hours, be ready to provide our services to the community," said Lozada.

On Tuesday, the 32-man PEMAT from the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) formed part of the Philippine contingent deployed to Myanmar to help aid victims of the earthquake.

The Philippine contingent arrived at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport in Myanmar on Tuesday afternoon. DMS
