The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) went on a heightened alert following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte upon his arrival from Hong Kong on Tuesday.

NCRPO spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo told The Daily Manila Shimbun in Viber that they have been on a heightened alert since around 3 pm.

Asilo said that 426 policemen were deployed while around 170 persons were outside the Villamor Airbase as of 7 pm.

The former President was served with a warrant of arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC) at 9:26 am Tuesday morning for alleged crimes against humanity during his war on drugs.

Duterte was brought to Villamor Airbase in Pasay City where he is still there as of posting time.
