What may happen if the ''None of the Above'' option in the official ballots for the October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections will get more votes than official candidates?
This is what the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will decide in an '' extremely urgent meeting " in Cotabato City on Wednesday.
"We will call for an extremely urgent meeting with the seven political parties, Namfrel, PPCRV, Lente, and other groups. We need to discuss something that we see as a problem. That is the issue with None of the Above," said Garcia.
" We want to address this issue. Before we create the guidelines on None of the Above, the parties should be aware of our predicament so that they can be part of the solution," he added.
He stressed that the Comelec is treating the NOTA option as an actual candidate that is eligible to receive valid votes.
"What if None of the Above gets more than 50% of the votes in each position, whether district or political parties? What are the implications of these? What if None of the Above wins? Who will sit? What if None of the Above wins in the political parties?" asked Garcia. DMS
