Lt. Gen Edgar Okubo has become the third highest ranking official at the Philippine National Police (PNP) after PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III named his deputy chief for operations.

Okubo, who heads the PNP's directorial staff, will assume the office on July 15 after the retirement of Lt. Gen. Robert Rodriguez.

He is the former director of the Directorate for Police Community Relations, Civil Security Group and National Capital Region Police Office.

Okubo’s replacement as chief of directorial staff is Maj. Gen. Neri Vincent Ignacio. DMS
