Vice President Sara Duterte said that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, ''is very thin'' while in detention at The Hague, Netherlands, but remains healthy.
In a chance video interview, the Vice President, who arrived in the Netherlands on July 5 to visit her father who is under custody by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity said her father had lost a lot of weight but noted that she prefered her father's smaller figure.
"He's very thin. I haven't seen him this thin. His arm is only half the size of my arm, but for me, I think he looks good thin because when he had big stomach, he looked unhealthy and [his weight] looked unsafe for his heart. I like him this way, quite slim," the Vice President said.
Duterte attributed her father's weight loss to his lack of appetite due to missing Filipino food in detention.
"He didn't want to lose weight but he lost appetite because of the happenings and maybe because the food isn't traditionally Filipino, the food he's used to isn't here," she explained.
It is the Vice President's third return to The Vague since her father's arrest and detention in an ICC facility in The Hague in March for alleged crimes against humanity in relation to his administrations' deadly war on drugs campaign.
The Vice President will be staying in The Hague until July 24 to 'maximize' the granted 4 times a week visitation by the ICC to her father. Velle White/DMS
