Twenty people were killed and 31 were injured during the midterm elections, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Friday.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said majority of the fatalities are from the Cordilleras which registered 15 election related incidents.
“Out of doon sa 49 na validated ay 13 ‘yung naaresto natin samantalang ‘yung at large ay nasa around 168,” she said in a news briefing at the Central Luzon police office in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
On election day on Monday, the PNP recorded 51 suspected election related incidents where five people were killed and 13 were injured.
Fajardo said the 2025 midterm elections were relatively peaceful compared with the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) which had 105 incidents.
The PNP also reported a 71.3 percent increase in gun ban violators arrested during the first four months of the five-month gun ban period. DMS
