The Philippine National Police will be on full alert starting Saturday as it has mobilized all personnel and resources for the May 12 midterm elections.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said all security measures are in place to ensure the safety and security of the elections.
“We are 100 percent. Ang mga tao namin nasa ground na,” he told reporters in an interview.
This means officers and personnel of the 235,000-strong PNP are ready for deployment.
Around 10 persons have died from election-related incidents, the last one being a partylist candidate, who was gunned down in Manila.
Marbil said police officers manning the elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are also ready. DMS
