The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) assures the public there will be no disruption in their services despite the resignation of Secretary Ivan Uy on Thursday.

DICT said that it looks forward to welcoming its new officer-in-charge who is not yet announced by the Office of the President.

"The DICT assures the public that there will be no disruption in its services amid the leadership transition. The Department looks forward to welcoming its new Officer-in-Charge who will complete President Marcos' vision of an inclusive and innovative Bagong Pilipinas for all," it stated.

Marcos accepted the resignation of Uy on Thursday. DICT said Uy expressed his deep gratitude to Marcos for affording him the opportunity to serve the Filipino people.

Uy is the fifth government official to leave the Marcos administration since January.

"As the third Secretary of DICT, Secretary Uy supported President Marcos’ call for digitalization, spearheading the rollout of game-changing eGovernment solutions such as the eGovPH App, eTravel, eLGU, and eReport. His tenure also saw the expansion of the Free Public Internet Access Program to over 16,000 active sites nationwide?the program’s widest reach yet since the enactment of the Free Internet Access in Public Places Act in 2017?as well as the issuance of an updated National Cybersecurity Plan," the agency said.

"Under his leadership, the Philippines made significant strides in improving its global standing in government digital transformation, cybersecurity, connectivity, and inclusivity," it added. Robina Asido/DMS
