The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will declare full alert starting in the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, possibly extending this until the series of rallies on Nov. 30.

To ensure the safety and solemn observance of All Saints and All Soul days, NCRPO Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin placed their personnel on full alert status starting October 31.

The NCRPO did not say when the full alert status would be lifted but it noted that the declaration was issued amid the anticipated "rallies in key city areas" as anti-corruption groups are expected to stage another nationwide protest on November 30.

A total of 8, 575 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel will be deployed across Metro Manila starting Friday next week.

This includes 8, 323 uniformed PNP personnel from the five police districts, the Regional Headquarters, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), and 252 from support units," the public information office of NCRPO.

It also noted that the deployment and operational measures have also been comprehensively mapped, which "cover cemeteries and columbaria (2,202 personnel), transportation hubs such as bus terminals, train stations, and airports/seaports (256 personnel), places of worship, major thoroughfares (386 personnel), rally convergence points, and other areas of public congregation (417 personnel)."

"Police assistance desks, inspection teams, and mobile patrols will be strategically positioned to guide the public, manage vehicular flow, and respond swiftly to emergencies," it stated.

"Additional personnel will be assigned to continuous anti-criminality operations (1,330 personnel), beat and mobile patrols, law enforcement checkpoints, area and route security, traffic management, and medical teams to ensure a coordinated and effective presence across the metropolis," it added.

“Our preparation for Undas is anchored on anticipation, coordination, and compassion. Even with simultaneous rallies expected across the region, our goal is to maintain peace without compromising the rights of the people," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
