The United States Department of Justice has sought the extradition of Apollo Quiboloy to face trial for alleged offenses, news reports said late Wednesday.

Quiboloy is in jail in the Philippines for reported human trafficking cases and other offenses. He was arrested late last year in Davao and turned over to the Philippine National Police.

The founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, a local religious group, was indicted by a US federal grand jury in 2021 for charges of conspiracy to engage in sexual offenses and bulk cash smuggling, news reports said.

GMA News Online reported that Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez confirmed the US request. DMS
