Police arrest two robbery suspects in Makati

Two suspects, including a 17-year-old, were arrested by the Makati police last April 22 for robbery and multiple violations including illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

The suspects, identified as alias Mario, 20 and his cohort alias "AAA", 17, were arrested in a hot pursuit operation by the Station Intelligence Section after the victim, alias "Jean", 33, a housekeeping staff cried for help after she was robbed.

Based on police reports, "Mario", the driver of a silver Honda Civic, stopped beside the victim, who was walking along Kamagong Street, Barangay San Antonio around 11:15 pm, and declared a hold-up. The driver pointed a short firearm at the victim and forcibly took her phone before it fled towards Ayala Avenue Extension.

The vehicle of the suspects was intercepted along Yakal Street after the victim's cry for help was heard by the nearby Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit that were on routine patrol.It then informed the Investigation and Detective Management Section through radio to respond and assist in the hot pursuit.

The Southern Police District led by Police Maj. Gerard Vilar discovered a Mk 2 fragmentation hand grenade hidden under the driver’s seat.

Further inspection "led to the recovery of several pieces of evidence: a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing four live rounds, a blue sling bag, an iPhone 16 in pink color and a Samsung A14 with an estimated value of P15,000. The vehicle involved, a gray Honda Civic bearing plate number ZBD-738, was also impounded as part of the investigation"
