"The security risks faced by Chinese citizens and institutions in the Philippines have increased," the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines said as it warned its citizens against "unstable public order" in the country.

In a travel advisory issued on Tuesday, the embassy said that "recently, public order in the Philippines has been unstable."

"Philippine law enforcement agencies have frequently investigated and harassed Chinese citizens and enterprises, political rallies and demonstrations have increased significantly, and the security risks faced by Chinese citizens and institutions in the Philippines have increased," it stated.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the Philippines remind Chinese citizens in the Philippines to pay close attention to the local social security situation and earnestly strengthen security precautions and emergency preparedness," it added.

The Embassy also advises their citizens to "reduce unnecessary outings and stay away from political gatherings and crowded places; Comply with local laws and regulations and beware of falling into security traps and traps."

"It is recommended that those who intend to go to the Philippines do a good job of risk assessment and make a prudent travel decision," it stated.
