The Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Monday hit lawmakers for passing a watered down version of the proposed P200 legislated wage hike saying it will not benefit all workers in the country.

In a statement, the KMU said it is unacceptable that the initial proposal for an "across-the-board" salary adjustment was limited to minimum wage earners.

"From across-the-board, where all private sector workers will benefit, it has been limited to minimum wage earners," said KMU.

On late Monday, the House of Representatives passed on second reading the measure providing a P200 increase for minimum wage earners in the private sector.

This, it said, is aside from the amount contained in the proposed law of P200 per day.

It said this is because the family living wage is pegged at P1,200 per day.

"The P200 increase is a far cry from the P1,200 living wage per day," said KMU. DMS
