The tropical cyclone warning signal in parts of Luzon was lifted as Tropical Depression ''Miraso'' left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.
As of 5pm, Mirasol was last spotted at 395 km west of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph while moving west northwest at the speed of 35 kph.
But the state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon is expected to "bring strong to gale-force gusts" over areas of Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Ilocos Region by Friday and in Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Romblon, and Masbate on Saturday.
The center of ''Nando'' was monitored at 1,260 km east of Central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph while moving northwest at the speed of 15kph.
"Nando'' is forecast to move slowly northwestward or west northwestward over the Philippine Sea in the next 48 hours. It may reach typhoon category by Saturday, the state weather bureau said, and adds intensitying into a super typhoon ''is not ruled out.''
It will turn west northwest or westward by Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning towards extreme Northern Luzon. On the forecast track, the center of ''Nando'' may pass close or may make landfall over Babuyan Islands," the state weather bureau said. Robina Asido/DMS
