Six JP Dragon syndicate members to be deported Wednesday

Six Japanese fugitives who are members of the JP Dragon syndicate will be deported Wednesday, the Bureau of Immigration said Tuesday.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval identified the JP Dragon members who will be deported as Hiraki Ishikawa, 46; Tsubasa Amano, 30; Akira Sambonchiku, 26; Naoto Matsumoto, 36; Rintaro Yamane, 28 and Masato Morihiro, 38.

Yamane and Morihiro were arrested by the Immigration officials in a condominium unit along Adriatico St. in Ermita, Manila last May 21 while the four other fugitives were apprehended in a residential area along Quirino Highway in Bulacan in the same day.

JP Dragon, a notorious fraud syndicate in Japan is implicated to be involved in a range of illegal activities, mostly fraud, targeting senior citizens in Japan.

BI said the modus of the group is to impersonate authorities to deceive victims into giving large sums of money. "The syndicate allegedly stole ATM cards and posed as law enforcers to harass and deceive their elder victims in surrendering bank cards and other banking information under the pretext of a police investigation," it stated.
