AFP reaffirms commitment to secure historic BARMM elections

The Armed Forces of the Philippines reaffirmed its full commitment to safeguard the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) during a Command Conference with defense and military leaders on September 6 at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

The commitment was reinforced during a high-level consultation led by Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C Teodoro, Jr. AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr, along with Army chief Gen. Lt Gen Antonio Nafarrete and other key AFP officials, was present to receive Teodoro’s directive to ensure the success of the historic polls.

Teodoro underscored the significance of the BPE as a milestone in the ongoing peace process in Mindanao and the democratic journey of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

This engagement reinforced the AFP’s vital role in ensuring that the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections are free, orderly, and peaceful, contributing to lasting peace, democracy, and development in the region. AFP Public Affairs Office
