Marcos to address Congress in State of the Nation Address

2025/7/28 英字

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr addresses Congress in his third State of the Nation Address on Monday afternoon at the Batasan Pambansa.

Admist the backdrop of the Supreme Court's ruling that the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte is unconstitutional, the new tariffs imposed by the United States and three successive storms, Marcos' speech is expected to provide direction how the government will tackle concerns, especially economic.

On Monday, the House of Representatives and the Senate will open sessions on Monday morning before adjourning for the afternoon's joint session of Congress. The impeachment of Vice President Duterte is expected to be one of the topics in the morning session.

The address will be held two months after the May midterm elections where senatorial aspirants under Duterte's party and two returning independent senators took seats in the Upper House.

Marcos' satisfaction ratings have risen to positive territory recently and the inflation rate, especially for rice, have declined but people complained that the cost of living remains high.

Surveys have shown that coping with high prices and employment remain the top concerns of Filipinos.

To be closely followed is how Congress will deliberate on the government's proposed budget of P6.973 trillion for 2027. Marcos had complained how Congress did not follow their expenditure program for the 2026 budget of P6.352 trillion.

This resulted in the education department receiving less money and public works getting the highest budget for 2025. DMS
