Four masked men rob Japanese in Makati

2025/5/20 英字

Four masked men are at large for stealing the belongings of a Japanese national along LP Leviste St. at Barangay Bel-Air in Makati City on May 9.

According to the affidavit of the 25-year-old Japanese, he was facing a restaurant while answering a call from his friend when one of the suspects riding a motorcycle allegedly pulled out a gun and stole his belongings.

Stolen from the Japanese man were a cellphone and a sling bag containing his passport, assorted bank cards, and cash.

After the incident, the Makati Police Substation 6 conducted a follow-up operation, backtracked CCTV footage, and coordinated with Barangay Bel-Air about the case.

Despite not getting clearer footage, authorities identified two motorcycles with two riders wearing helmets. The suspect who pulled the firearm wore a long-sleeved shirt and pants.

The Japanese victim filed an affidavit of disinterest. When authorities visited his condominium the next day, he was not there and no communication had been made between the victim and the authorities after filing the affidavit.

Makati Police substation 6 personnel inspected the place of the incident on May 16.

Capt. Jenibeth Artista, Makati City Police public information officer, said the efforts of the authorities to retrieve and request clearer CCTV footage of the incident are ongoing. Kate Christian Ravelo/DMS
