Mt. Bulusan erupts, placed under Level 1 by Phivolcs

2025/4/29 英字

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised the alert level status of Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon to Level 1 following its phreatic eruption at 4:36 am Monday which lasted 24 minutes.

According to Phivolcs' volcano bulletin, the alert level was raised to Alert Level 1 as "the volcano is currently in a state of low-level unrest with chances of succeeding phreatic eruption after this morning's event"

Mt. Bulusan's phreatic eruption this morning produced a 4,500-meter plume drifting west to southwest, affecting Barangay, Cogon, Bolos, Irosin, Puting Sapa, Guruyan, Buraburan, Juban, Tulala Sur, and Magallanes in Sorsogon province with ashfall.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) effective from April 28, 2025, at 8:29 am to April 29, 2025, at 4:36 am, reminding flight operators "to avoid flying near the volcano due to possible hazards from the sudden explosive eruption."
