A road crash involving a van and a pickup truck killed four people and injured 12 others Sunday afternoon in General Santos City.

General Santos City police director Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, Jr. said that the van was travelling to South Cotabato while the pickup truck headed towards General Santos were travelling in opposite directions when the pickup truck overtook another vehicle and crashed into the approaching van.

The van's driver, along with three of its passengers, were declared dead on arrival.

In an interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun, the General Santos Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) said that the van's driver, along with three of its passengers, were declared dead on arrival.

Seven other passengers of the van, and five passengers of the pickup truck were injured.

The passengers of the van were residents of Cotabato City, while the passengers of the pickup truck were residents of Tampakan, South Cotabato. Yzabela Velez-White/DMS
