The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said that 21 officials of the Philippine government stuck in Israel due to the ongoing conflict with Iran have crossed the border to Jordan, with 150 Filipinos to be repatriated in the following days.

In a press statement, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan received and facilitated the border crossing of the government officials through close collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv.

"In Amman, the Embassy, under the leadership of Ambassador Santos, made formal representations to Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Jordanian Border Security to secure entry clearance for the officials. The group was met by Ambassador Santos at the King Hussein Border, where they were provided with the necessary assistance and issued transit visas ? all at no cost to the Philippine government," the Embassy said.

They added that they will be receiving groups of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) exiting Israel through Jordan in the coming days and will be provided necessary assistance in the repatriation process.

Meanwhile, in a radio interview, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac said OFWs who are willing to come home will be facilitated repatriation through Jordan, with 150 OFWs wanting repatriation..

"So far, 150 OFWs want repatriation. I cannot give further details due to security reasons, but rest assured, we will have our first batch coming home [soon] since the Iran-Israel conflict. The situation is quite fluid, so I won't set a timeline, but rest assured, this is being done as soon as possible," Cacdac said.

Cacdac said Filipinos in the conflict zone will be provided shelter assistance, for those whose homes were destroyed by the missle attacks, and also financial assistance.

Filipinos returning to the Philippines from Israel will also be provided two months of salary, medical services from the Department of Health (DOH), financial assistance and psychosocial from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and other aid from government offices, according to Cacdac.
