Former National Democratic Front chief negotiator Luis Jalandoni has died at the age of 90 in the Netherlands, the Central Committee of the Communist Party (CCP) said on Saturday.
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ka Louie Jalandoni, beloved by the masses, a true internationalist, revolutionary leader and stalwart of peace", CCP said in a statement.
"Ka Louie passed away peacefully at around 9:05 in the morning in Utrecht, the Netherlands (03:05pm Philippine time) on June 7, 2025", it added. It did not disclose the cause of his death.
He is considered the remaining senior member of the central committee of the CCP, which was formed in 1969.
Peace talks between the government and the CPP continue, with the New People's Army, the armed wing of the National Democratic Front, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines continuing hostilities for more than 50 years.
Jalandoni also served as the National Executive Committee Senior Political Consultant of the NDF.
The CCP said that Jalandoni was surrounded by his wife Coni, family, and his comrades in his final moments but did not disclose the cause of death. Marie Manalili/DMS
