The second batch of rescued overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) illegally recruited to work in Myanmar were safely repatriated Wednesday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said

In a statement, the DMW said 176 illegally recruited OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 early Wednesday.

This brings the total number of rescued and repatriated OFW victims in Myanmar to 206, including the 30 OFWs that returned home on Tuesday.

"Another 59 OFWs are expected to return home soon," said the DMW.

The DMW said the Filipino victims were initially recruited through WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram as customer sales representatives in Myanmar. These turned out to be online scammers in Myanmar.

Upon their arrival, each victim was given P50,000 in financial assistance from the DMW, and P10,000 from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

They were also provided immediate medical and psychosocial services from the Department of Health and Department of Social Welfare and Development. DMS
