The Philippine Air Force (PAF) said it has recovered of six persons believed to be the pilots and crew of the ill-fated Super Huey helicopter that crashed in Agusan del Sur on Tuesday.
Col. Ma. Christina Basco, PAF public affairs office chief, noted that the Philippine Air Force is still waiting for a report for the confirmation of the identities of the six bodies.
Basco did not name the six aboard the helicopter but she said two are pilots with the rank of captain and 2nd lieutenant.
"Recovery efforts are ongoing to secure the crash site and a thorough investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident," she said.
"The PAF expresses its deepest concern and sympathy for the families of the pilots and crew and assures of its full support and assistance during this difficult time," she added.
The Super Huey helicopter was one of the four helicopters deployed to conduct a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis mission to the areas affected by Typhoon 'Tino'.
The aircraft was on its way to the regional Tactical Operations Group , Butuan City from Davao when it lost communication near the vicinity of the 60th Infantry Battalion at Loreto, Agusan Del Sur.
In a statement, the Department of National Defense also extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the six Philippine Air Force pilots and crew of the helicopter.
"Their dedication to duty and sacrifice will always be remembered, especially as these were made in the service of our fellow Filipinos facing the effects of Typhoon 'Tino'," it stated.
"We pray for their eternal peace and shall extend all available support to their families at this difficult time," it added. (Robina Asido)
