BAGUIO CITY? Four cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), whose names were not disclosed, may face formal criminal charges for violating the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.

This follows the alleged maltreatment of 4th Class cadet Mauee Bumagat Maraggun.

According to a Baguio City police report, the suspects reportedly physically harmed Maraggun and forced him to perform strenuous exercises until he collapsed.

Maraggun was initially hospitalized at the V. Luna Medical Center in Quezon City before his return to the PMA Hospital Station at Fort del Pilar. He was discharged from the hospital on June 30.

The victim claimed the alleged maltreatment occurred for almost a month from September 2 to September 29, 2024 within the PMA barracks.

PMA spokesperson Lt. Jesse Nestor B. Saludo confirmed appropriate punishments have been meted out against three cadets.

The fourth, another of Maraggun’s upperclass was freed from punishment because he was found not guilty of any offense. DMS
