Vice President Sara Duterte only laughed when a reporter asked her opinion about Major General Nicolas Torre III's assignment as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a press conference at The Hague, Netherlands on Saturday as the Vice President celebrated her 47th birthday, she replied: "Oh sorry, that's my reaction," before moving on to the next question.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had recently chosen Torre to replace outgoing PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil. The change of command ceremony is set on June 2.
Torre, who headed the PNP's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, led the operation which arrested and delivered the vice president's father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands last March 11 to face charges of alleged crimes against humanity during the implementation of his war on drugs.
The Vice President visited her father in his detention cell at The Hague. She held a birthday celebration with her brother, outgoing Davai Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Senator Imee Marcos. Yzabela Velez-White/DMS
