Aquino enters Magic 12 in final Pulse Asia survey as senatorial race tightens for last six seats

2025/5/6 英字

A week before the May midterm elections, former Senator Bam Aquino tied for the 12th spot while administration and opposition candidates saw declines in their voter percentage in the t Pulse Asia senatorial survey.

Aquino is tied from 11th to 18th with a 25.4 voting percentage. He is the cousin of the late President Benigno Aquino III.

In a television interview, Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes said all candidates in the Top 12 saw a decline in voter percentage, yet the race is still tight for at least half of the available Senate seats.

"Senator (Ronald) Bato Dela Rosa saw the biggest decline with 7.7 percent and (ACT-CIS Partylist Rep.) Erwin Tulfo with 8.7 percent," Holmes said.

Holmes also noted that there is only a eight percentage gap between broadcaster Ben Tulfo, who occupies fifth to 10th place and Aquino.

"The lower half isn't quite sure," Holmes said.

Holmes believes that the mobilization capacity of candidates would make a difference in the last few days of campaigning.

"We'll see... whether they would be carried by the local candidates that they've had partnerships with," Holmes added.

Las Pinas Rep. Camille Villar and Senator Imee Marcos saw varied results of their endorsement from Vice President Sara Duterte.

Villar now ties with fellow Alyansa bet former Senator Manny Pacquiao in the ninth to 14th rank, rising from her previous 12th to 18th place in the previous month’s survey.

Marcos sits in 14th to 18th place, tied with actor Phillip Salvador.

Holmes believes that Duterte's endorsement of Villar and Marcos may have not yet resonated in survey results.

"Maybe the endorsement hasn't lasted long enough," Holmes said.

Duterte ally Senator Bong Go leads the survey with a 62.2 voter percentage, while ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo maintained his tie with Dela Rosa and former Senator Tito Sotto for second to fourth spot.

Senators Bong Revilla and Lito Lapid, former Senator Ping Lacson, and brodcaster Ben Tulfo tied for fifth to 11th place. Meanwhile, Senator Pia Cayetano ranked seventh and TV personality Willie Revillame ranked eighth.

The survey, conducted from April 20-24, 2025 through face-to-face interviews of 2,400 representative adults 18 years old and above is the last senatorial survey conducted by Pulse Asia. Yzabela Velez-White/DMS
