Four administration backed senatorial candidates were among the initial list of five endorsed senatorial bets of religious group Jesus is Lord (JIL) on Sunday.

In a statement, JIL backed former Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Tito Sotto, incumbent Senator Pia Cayetano, and former Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

"The Executive Selection Committee has adopted a set of stringent criteria rooted in Christian values, with a strong emphasis on candidates' commitment to truth, justice, and righteousness", it said.

JIL added that "deliberations are ongoing and a second batch of endorsements will be announced in the coming days". Marie Manalili/DMS
