Two Russian divers died, with one losing an arm, while scuba diving in Isla Verde, Batangas on Thursday

The Coast Guard Sub-Station Isla Verde said the incident could allegedly be due to a shark attack.

Based on an initial report, Coast Guard Station Batangas chief Captain Airland Lapitan said four Russian nationals were scuba diving when they were hit by a strong water current.

Two were able to get out of the water while another went missing. The third Russian diver was taken to a nearby hospital in Batangas City but was declared dead on arrival.

The fourth Russian diver was found unconscious and missing his right arm around 5:50 pm of the same day.

His body was transported to Puerto Galera onboard recreational boat D' Ocean Riders where it was received by the bereaved families and loved ones around 9:10 pm.

"At around 10:24PM, an ambulance transported the cadaver to a nearby funeral service parlor for proper disposition," it stated. Robina Asido/DMS
