The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) ended 1.71 percent lower on Monday, the first trading day of November.
The index settled at 5,828.06. Losers were led by Medco, down 20.54 percent to P0.089 and Dizon Copper-Silver Mines Inc., down 17.89 percent to P3,12.
Trades resumed after markets took a break on Friday for the All Saints and All Souls days commemoration.
The peso, which hit a new all-time low of P59.13 against the dollar last week, finished at P58.79 after hitting its low of P58.83 for the session.
Volume reached $1.325 billion after ending the morning session at $759.5 million. DMS
