2018/11/12 英字

The camp of Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos on Monday afternoon filed a "motion for leave of court to avail of post-conviction remedies" before the Sandiganbayan's Fifth Division which she was found guilty of seven counts of graft and corruption on Friday.

The "post-conviction" remedies include filing of motion for reconsideration, lifting of arrest warrant and motion to post bail.

Former Justice Manuel Lazaro also filed "entry of appearance" to replace Marcos lawyer Robert Sison who is confined at the Asian Hospital.

On Nov 9, the widow of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos was found "guilty beyond reasonable doubt for violation of Republic Act No. 3019, Section 3(h) in relation to Article IX, Section 8 of the 1973 Constitution in Criminal Cases Nos.17287, 17288, 17289, 172890, 22867, 22868, and 22869."

These cases are related to the alleged transfer of around $200 million in seven Swiss bank accounts while she was a member of the defunct "Interim Batasang Pambansa" and minister of human settlements.

An arrest warrant for Marcos has yet to be released by the Sandiganbayan. Ella Dionisio/DMS
