Deaths due to ''Uwan'' rise to 27 from 18 the previous day

The fatalities due to Super Typhoon ''Uwan'' continued to increase, reaching 27 on Wednesday from 18 on Tuesday while the damage to agriculture and infrastructure is now over P300 million.

An Office of Civil Defense report shows that most additional fatalities or at least seven more people died in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Despite an increase in the number of fatalities, the OCD reported that two persons remained missing and 36 were injured.

In its latest report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) recorded an infrastructure damage amounting to P126,589,000 in Central Luzon, Bicol and Caraga.

On the other hand, the Department of Agriculture also reported a total of P188.27 million worth of damage and losses in rice, corn, cassava, high-value crops, and livestock.

The super typhoon affected "6,580 farmers, with a volume of production loss at 10,839 metric tons and 3,905 hectares (ha) of agricultural areas." Robina Asido/DMS
