A former Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) official named more government officials. including senators. allegedly receiving kickbacks from the anomalous flood control projects.
Aside from Senators Francis Escudero, former Senators Nancy Binay and Ramon Bong Revilla Jr, ex-public works undersecretary Roberto Bernardo also named Senator Mark Villar, Senator Sonny Angara, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Senator Grace Poe, and former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan in his second supplemental affidavit that he read during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Friday.
Bernardo said Education Undersecretary Trygve Olaivar also had transactions with him concerning then Senator Angara between 2019 and 2024.
He said it is "where Usec. Trygve received deliveries representing 12 percent of the projects of Senator Sonny Angara while the latter was the chairman of Finance (committee).”
Bernardo mentioned that Estrada requested P500 million worth of project in 2023, but Bonoan only agreed to give P450 million for a building in NCR.
He also claimed that in the third quarter of 2024, certain JY De La Rosa, a supposed staff of Poe, requested Bonoan through him if the senator can be accommodated in the DPWH (National Expenditure Program) NEP."
"Sec. Bonoan told me there is a 500 million for Senator Grace Poe and instructed me to ask the Senator for a list of projects. J.Y. De La Rosa told me to coordinate the matter with Mrs. Patron, a contractor," said Bernardo.
Other names of those who were involved in the anomalous projects whom he mentioned include Bulacan First District Engineer Henry Alcantara, Public Works Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, former Ako Bikol Partylist Rep. aldy Co and others. Robina Asido/DMS
